Tramway 1 of the HCMC Metro is a proposed tram line connecting Ba Son – Ton Duc Thang – Me Linh Roundabout – Vo Van Kiet – Ly Chieu Hoang – Western Bus Terminal.

Total length: 12.8 km (ground level).
Number of station: 6 stations and 17 stops.

VND 3 trillion upgrade for congested HCM City street and bridge – [27/10/25]
“The HCM City Department of Construction has recommended an investment of VND 2.95 trillion (USD 118 million) to widen Nguyen Tat Thanh Street and build a new Tan Thuan 1 Bridge.”

“A tramway along Nguyen Tat Thanh Street is also being considered as part of an integrated transport and urban landscape plan for the western bank of the Saigon River, envisioned as a modern, cohesive riverside development corridor.”

HCM City rehashes tramway plan in bid to tackle traffic crisis – [25/09/15]
“The three companies – the War Veterans One-member Limited Company, the Phu My Investment and Construction JSC and the Northwest Real Estate Investment and Development JSC – said the tramway service No.1 is designed to connect Bach Dang Wharf in District 1 to Mien Tay Bus Station in Binh Tan District.”

2006

First trams in Ho Chi Minh City only three years away – [23/10/06]
“Trams will begin plying the streets of Ho Chi Minh City at the end of 2009 if everything goes according to plan.

Mr. Le Hong Ha, deputy chief of the city’s Urban Metro Preparation Unit, says construction of the tramway between Thu Thiem Ferry Station in the middle of town and Mien Tay Bus Station in Binh Thanh District should begin in early 2008.”
