Ho Chi Minh City Metro Guide

An independent guide to the HCMC Metro

  • Line 1
  • Line 2

Thu Dau Mot – Tao Dan Line

The Thu Dau Mot – Tao Dan Line is a planned urban railway of the HCMC Metro. The line will be 32.7 km long, with 10 elevated stations and 13 underground stations. Construction is expected to begin by the end of 2026 and be completed by 2030.

The line will run from Thu Dau Mot in former Binh Duong province to Tao Dan Park in central Ho Chi Minh City, where it will interchange with Tao Dan Station on Line 2.

The line was previously planned as Line 2 of the Binh Duong Urban Railway. Binh Duong Province was merged into Ho Chi Minh City in 2025, and the planned Binh Duong urban railways will be incorporated into the HCMC Metro.

The line is still being referred to in some reports as Line 2, though it’s not the same line as Line 2 of the HCMC Metro.

The Thu Dau Mot – Tao Dan Line is now incorporated into the planned Line 3 of the HCMC Metro (referred to as Line 3A by Management Authority for Urban Railways (MAUR)).

The line will be renumbered, so for now, line is being referred to as the Binh Duong New City – Suoi Tien Line.
