HCMC Metro system map shown at stations

A map of the future HCMC Metro system is displayed at the stations. Here is a reproduction of the Ho Chi Minh City urban rail network map.

There is only one line in operation, so there isn’t use for a network map for travel planning. This map of the planned HCMC Metro is displayed at the stations with the future lines greyed out. I have not been able to find this online yet, so I only have these photos from the station. The maps have light reflections, so excuse the image quality.

The ticket vending machines at the stations show an elongated version of the map. This map appears to be inspired by Japanese metro maps.

The maps have a key with the future lines and their proposed colour schemes.

I have heard reports that visitors to the city who are unfamiliar with the metro project think that the other lines exist. It is an unusual site to see a future metro map shown at stations when the lines are not even under construction.

This map is already outdated as there are some new line proposals and extensions that aren’t represented on the official masterplan map.

Masterplan Map

MAUR have hinted at a new masterplan map on this investment conference announcement. The small map shows lines in the former provinces of Binh Duong and Ba Ria-Vung Tau (now merged into HCMC), and the Thu Thiem – Long Thanh Airport Line (Dong Nai Province).

The map on Wikipedia shows the future lines but it doesn’t have the station names.
