Line 3 HCMC Metro

Line 3 of the Ho Chi Minh City Metro.

Route: An Hạ (Bình Chánh) – Tân Kiên – Cộng Hoà Junction – Hiệp Bình Phước
Length: 45.8 km
Stations: 37

Line 3 was originally Line 3B on the old masterplan, and Line 3A was the western extension of Line 1 from Ben Thanh. The metro authority website still refers to both lines as Line 3A and Line 3B.

The official map by MAUR shows the Line 3B alignment from Cong Hoa Roundabout – Nguyen Thi Minh Khai – Xo Viet Nghe Tinh – Highway No.13rd – Hiep Binh Phuoc.

Total length: 12.2 km (9.1 km underground and 3.1 km elevated).
Number of station: 10 (8 underground stations and 2 elevated stations).

2026

HCMC approves Masterise to conduct survey, investment proposal for Metro Line 3 – [01/01/26]
“On December 31, the HCMC People’s Committee approved Masterise Group Joint Stock Company to conduct surveys, research, and submit investment proposals for Metro Line 3 (An Ha–Hiep Binh Phuoc), using the company’s own funding.”

“Notably, Metro Line 3 will connect with Metro Line 2 (Thu Dau Mot–Ho Chi Minh City) at the Hiep Binh Phuoc depot, creating a continuous urban rail route from Binh Duong to central Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to the completion of the public transport network in Vietnam’s largest metropolitan area.”

2025

Property firm Masterise proposes developing Ho Chi Minh City’s metro line No. 3 – [23/10/25]
“According to the city’s transport plan, metro line No. 3 will run along major corridors including An Ha, Le Minh Xuan, Tan Kien Station, National Highway 1, Kinh Duong Vuong, Hong Bang, Hung Vuong, Cong Hoa Roundabout, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Xo Viet Nghe Tinh, National Highway 13, and the Hiep Binh Phuoc depot.”

2015

HCMC proposes Japan ODA loans for metro routes 3a, 3b – [10/09/15]
“The 3b route will connect Cong Hoa crossroads in District 3 with Hiep Binh Phuoc ward in Thu Duc district. The 12.1 kilometer work is expected to cost VND33.7 trillion (US$1.50 billion).”

“They are the 7.6km line No 3A linking Ben Thanh Market in District 1 with the Western Bus Station in Binh Tan District at an estimated VND32.2 trillion, a 9.03km extension of the line from the bus station to Tan Kien in Binh Chanh District at VND26 trillion (US$1.2 trillion), and line No 3B from the Cong Hoa Crossroads in District 3 to Hiep Binh Phuoc in Thu Duc District at VND33.7 trillion (US$1.55).”
