Ho Chi Minh City Metro Guide is an independent guide to the HCMC Metro.
After years of delays, Line 1 of the HCMC Metro is expected to begin operations in Q4 of 2024. Line 2 is currently in preplanning for construction, and more lines are planned in the future.
This site plans to cover all the lines, post news about construction, and provide guides of things to see and do around the stations.
hochiminhcitymetro.com is not affiliated with the HCMC Metro or railway management.
About me
My name is James Clark, and I’m the editor of the Ho Chi Minh City Metro Guide.
I have been based in Ho Chi Minh City on a part-time basis since 2012. This was the year when construction of Line 1 began, and I have been following the trials and tribulations of the metro construction ever since.
This is the first city I have lived in where I have seen a metro project start from the beginning, so it’s been fascinating to see the process.
I have a travel site at Nomadic Notes where I posted my own version of the HCMC Metro map.
I write about transport and urban development at Future Southeast Asia, and I post metro construction updates there. I’m also the creator of the HCMC Metro concept map (“If Saigon had a subway like Shanghai”).
With all this content on my two sites, I figured it was time to publish a guide to the HCMC Metro before it begins operations. I am looking forward to it opening.
I post news about the metro on the Facebook page, and can contact me directly for any other questions.
